Question

Answer

I need to add or delete a story. Or I need to edit a story. How do I do this?

ADDING A STORY:

Adding stories is accomplished by creating a free account with us. This is mandatory because otherwise we would get all kinds of spammy submissions. THEN, when your account has been created, simply click on the link above or on the left menu entitled "Submit a Press Release" It's that simple.

DELETING A STORY

Deleting stories is not allowed. There are many reasons for this, and they are explained elsewhere in these FAQ's. However, the MAIN reason is because once a story is approved, it is also simultaneously posted to several news sites and search engines for indexing and archiving. If a story is removed then a PAGE in our site is removed. When a page is removed, it ends up creating a dead link in the search engines.

Search Engines don't like hitting dead links. If it happens too often then our score and credibility is affected in Google and Yahoo and we are penalized. When we are penalized, we get less traffic. When we get less traffic, then EVERYONE gets less traffic to their stories. It hurts everyone in general.

EDITING A STORY

Editing stories: Well, from our point of view, that's ALMOST the same as deleting a story. Sure, the page still remains, but theoretically you could delete all the text from the page and effectively delete the story. Same thing. Same result. Bad. Not allowed. Sorry.

I entered all of the required information for my press release but it doesn't show up on my homepage here at Media Syndicate. How long does it take a press release to show up under the heading: "Last 10 news submissions by "username"?

Maybe a few minutes if you donated. Maybe a few hours or days if you did not. Maybe ... well, maybe NEVER ... if the press release is not news, but just spam. Can't say for sure because I don't know what you posted. But be sure to read the "PR Best Practices" link on the sidebar menu for good submission tips.

Keep your eyes open, and if you want more priority, donate a coupla bucks, or make sure the content is really well written and follows good press release format.
