Dr. Linda Eagle, President of The Edcomm Group, appeared on CN8's Comcast Newsmakers to discuss the Service Members' Civil Relief Act (SCRA) revised by President Bush last year.
SCRA protects military personnel and their dependants from the undue financial hardship that may come from being asked to leave civilian life and serve their country. The Edcomm Group has developed Soldiers and Sailors, a self-paced, online tutorial that breaks down the complex regulations into easily understandable components. Referring to the need for those the Act affects to be informed, Dr. Eagle said, "The family member has to go to the bank or the financial institution, the bank does not have to do it automatically. That is why it is so important to get the word out – to the military families, and to the banks."
